The elbow-length half-sleeve has made an appearance recently in the GottaGoGolf closet -- with a fitted half-sleeve shirt from Callaway, a looser, bell-bottom half-sleeve from Jo-Fit, and a fitted half-sleeve trimmed with a contrasting color from Antigua.
Antigua president and CEO Ron McPherson noticed his brand’s Keen style did well last season. “Younger women seem to look for the cap sleeve and sleeveless style,” he said. “Maybe the half-sleeve has appeal for an older age group.”
Well, women do tend to get sensitive about the upper arm area as they age -- but, there’s something about this style that creates a flattering proportion and feminine shape, especially for the taller, long-armed golfer.
The only complaint: The bell sleeve rides up under another layer. The fitted styles layer nicely -- and all swing easily.
Shown, Antigua's Keen, retails for around $60 if you can still find it.
